A Victorian spa and wellness centre recognised around the globe for its luxury thermal springs is on the market.
Rumours have been bubbling across the Mornington Peninsula all week that the region’s world leading hot springs is on the market.
The Herald Sun can reveal the Peninsula Hot Springs is searching for a new owner.
A written statement from the award-winning Fingal attraction confirmed it was seeking an owner who “aligned with the business vision and values and has the capacity to realise future growth plans”.
“With the journey to find a suitable buyer still very much in its infancy, Peninsula Hot Springs is currently working through the logistics and time frame for this process,” the statement says.
The owners said they were committed to ensuring a “strong and sustainable future” for the venue and helping guests “connect with nature, themselves and each other”.
“We will honour our legacy as a leader in developing the wellness category within the Australian market and are confident that the next chapter will enable the business to continue thriving and growing its global presence.”
Peninsula Hot Springs is owned by co-founder Charles Davidson and Bharat Mitra and Bhavani Lev, owners and founders of international wellness conglomerate Organic India.
Organic India bought a 50 per cent share of the business in 2014.
According to 3AW an offer of $100m was recently made for the hot springs, which was rejected.
Mr Davidson has previously said banks had struggled to value the unique offering which has grown significantly since it opened in 2005.
This year the venue, which already offered glamping, launched “elevated accommodation” in the form of eco lodges.
The new soak and stay option was part of the first stage of an upgrade to the attraction and was made possible thanks to a $3.3m state government grant.
