Table settings, water stations and jugs of maple syrup have been scrapped as The Pancake Parlour adopts new dining protocols in the face of coronavirus.
Melbourne’s biggest pancake restaurant franchise introduced “strict dining safeguards” on Monday in response to the escalation of the health crisis.
Managing director Mandy David emailed members to advise of changes being enforced across the venues including removing table settings and introducing single use menus, packaged salt, pepper and sugar and individually wrapped straws.
Other changes include maple syrup pourers being replaced with individual portions of syrup.
The restaurant chain has stores at Fountain Gate, Glen Waverley, Knox, Doncaster, Highpoint and Werribee.
“Cutlery will be cleaned, sanitised and packaged in individual single use bags under strict sanitising conditions and teaspoons will be disposable wrapped in sealed plastic,” Ms David said in an email to members.
“We have removed self-serve water stations but just ask and we will deliver water to you.”
The company has also added an extra sanitising step between each table service.
“Every 30 minutes, our team will be wiping down all high traffic surfaces with sanitiser, including door handles, bathrooms and bench tops.”
Ms David said the company would continue to monitor advice released by the government and health services.
