Pakenham crime: Main Street, Centre Court Arcade fire investigated

Tenants at a Pakenham shopping centre reported issues before a blaze broke out on Main St.

A fire at a Pakenham shopping precinct is being investigated after firefighters were called to the blaze overnight.

Police have created a crime scene at Centre Court Arcade on Main St with the fire’s cause being treated as suspicious.

Leading Senior Constable Natalie Dean said the fire broke out at the back of the centre about 4am, and firefighters were quick to extinguish the flames.

Shocked tenants arrived this morning to find their shops ruined.

Tenants told Leader they had reported issues with the main switchboard in the arcade, as well as lights last night.
