Oakleigh burger shop targeted by arsonists twice as police hunt offenders responsible

Owners of an Oakleigh shop are devastated after their business was targeted by arsonists twice as police hunt the offenders responsible for the heartless act.

Police are searching for arsonists who targeted a burger store twice in Melbourne’s southeast. 

The first incident at Burgled occurred about 3.40am on April 9 in Oakleigh when the shop window was broken and an offender unsuccessfully attempted to ignite an accelerant.

The second attack occurred about 7.20am on April 10 when offenders reversed a stolen black Holden Barina into the front of the Huntingdale Rd business before igniting the vehicle.

Significant damage to the building was caused but no one was injured during the incident.

The offender ran from the scene and into a getaway car believed to be a black Subaru Forester with distinctive black rims.

It’s understood the car may have displayed stolen registration plates of TRB556.

Police have released an image of a vehicle and man that may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man was wearing a grey hoody, dark pants and dark shoes.

Owners of Burgled said the store would be closed for months.

“We are completely devastated to see how someone could do this to our store,” they wrote on Facebook.

“Due to these circumstances, our Huntingdale store will not be able to operate for months.

“We thank our customers and community for their ongoing support. We will continue to stay strong.”
