A dangerous and depraved cyber child sex predator who targeted children in teen chatrooms and traded vile underage porn has been jailed.
Perry Graham, 25, was sentenced in the County Court on Thursday to a minimum 15 months’ jail after pleading guilty to a stack of child abuse offences.
The court heard Graham was charged following a streak of disturbing crimes where he sent heinous content to children and shared horrorsome videos of victims as young as eight being abused.
Graham’s sick messages took place in 2017, where he groomed teens on sites including KiK and Line messenger.
The monster had already been listed as a sex offender after he was jailed for penetrating a child under 16 in 2015.
Graham was nabbed after police received a tip-off that he was in contact with a girl who was believed to be 14 years old on Skype in October 2017.
Police pounced on Graham’s Noble Park home — where he lived with his mother and siblings — seizing his mobile, laptop and tablet.
The majority of the 1000 plus images and videos on the devices depicted child nudity.
The content also included children being abused by adults.
In one October 2017 message, Graham told one girl he wanted to show his genitalia.
“I’ve never done this before … you sure it’s OK, I’m 14?,” the girl said.
“Yeah as long as you’re OK with it,’ Graham replied.
In May 2017, Graham said he would reward a boy, believed to be 15, with sex if he brought him a virgin female friend.
Graham also requested a “strip show” from a teen, and told a 17-year-old he hope she would be raped after she didn’t send him explicit content.
The court heard Graham also traded child porn with other predators from the US.
Graham told police his devices contained images of “older people and younger people having sex”, and that he’d logged into teen chatrooms “to report older guys” to moderators.
His victims have never been identified.
Lawyer Sarah Lenthall said, at an earlier hearing, Graham had made no attempt to conceal his identity or use an encryption service to access the material.
She said he displayed some traits of a personality disorder but no diagnosis had been made.
“He’s somewhat damaged and we don’t have yet an answer as to why he presents that way or what can be done about it,” Ms Lenthall said.
Graham has the “full support” of his mother, the court heard.
Judge Paul Higham said the offending was depraved.
“You were going on a hunt to see what was out there in the virtual world,” Judge Higham said.
“You were trading (child abuse material) like boys trading football cards.”
Graham, who pleaded guilty to 25 charges including use carriage service to transmit child pornography material, use carriage service to groom a person under the age of 16, and knowingly possess child abuse material, was jailed for a maximum three years and eight months.
Graham, who is already serving a jail term, will be eligible for parole on May 17, 2022.
He was made a registered sex offender for life.
