Teens armed with water bombs are running amok in Sorrento terrifying motorists and causing at least one car crash.
Adam Wood said the reckless behaviour led to significant damage to his car after it was hit by a water balloon on the weekend.
He had just left Sorrento IGA and was driving along Morce Ave about 3.50pm on Saturday when his car was hit.
“I heard a loud thud and stopped to see what it was,” Mr Wood said.
“I was right opposite the skate park and I look over to see about 50 kids.
“The driver behind me was also looking at what was going on at the park and ran up the back of me.”
Mr Wood said the other driver got out of his car and the two men ran towards the skate park.
“About 20 kids took off and ran behind the buildings nearby.” he said.
The men decided not to pursue the youths and returned to their cars.
Mr Wood said he found the remains of a red water balloon on his vehicle.
“I wish we had collared one of (the kids) because they were responsible for this accident and should be paying for the damage, not the poor bloke behind me.”
The men have not yet reported the incident to police.
They were hoping some one with dashcam footage of the incident would come forward.
However, another victim did report her experience to police after the car she was driving was hit three times.
Lauren, who did not want to reveal her last name, said she was leaving Sorrento back beach with a friend about 2.45pm on Saturday when she heard a loud thud.
“I braked suddenly because I though I had hit something,” she said.
“Then I looked up the hill a little and to my right and I saw a group of boys laughing and ducking down behind some bushes.
“I made eye contact with one who was a bit slower to hide than the rest. He had shoulder length sandy coloured hair and was wearing a light coloured hoodie.”
Lauren said she counted at least three youths before losing sight of the group.
“When we drove off they threw another two bombs at us that hit the car,” she said.

The second attack prompted her to drive straight to the nearby Sorrento police station to report the incident.
Finding that unmanned she then drove to Rye.
“But that one was also unmanned so then we rang Rosebud and spoke to an officer there,” she said.
Lauren said it was important that the youths involved understood how dangerous their actions were and that other motorists were aware of the incidents.
“(The boys) think it’s hilarious. But it could lead to a serious accident.”
Rosebud police have been contacted.
