Melbourne Magistrates’ Court: Drouin man Daniel Rice, 37, accused of trespassing in Clyde North and assaulting man

A Drouin man has been accused of trespassing at a home in Melbourne’s southeast while armed with a taser and assaulting a man.

Daniel Rice appeared on the web link at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for a committal hearing.

Charge sheets revealed Mr Rice allegedly trespassed at a property in Clyde North with the intent to assault a person with taser, stole a mountain bike and a CCTV hard drive valued at $2000 and assaulted a man without lawful excuse on October 15 in 2023.

Mr Rice’s lawyer said his client had other matters that would be heard at the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court later this month.

Magistrate Jillian Prior said the nature of the alleged offending was “unusual”.

“There are aggravating features,” Ms Prior said.

Mr Rice was bailed and will return to court in March.
