Melbourne motorists will be feeling some relief at the bowser, with prices as low as 98c per litre in Melbourne’s southeast.

RACV Senior vehicle engineer Nicholas Platt said as of Friday afternoon a United station at Cranbourne West was selling ULP for 98.9c per litre, with the most common petrol price currently at $119.9c per litre.

“TAPIS crude is currently trading about $58 (AUD) per barrel. A more relevant measure is the wholesale price at the terminal (the price retailers pay) which is 101.2c per litre” Mr Platt said.

Fuel prices at United in Cranbourne North were also low at 99c per litre, 7-11 Narre Warren was at $113.9c per litre and Metro Petroleum in Dingley Village was at $114.9c per litre.

Other suburbs with low fuel prices include Shell Koo Wee Rup ($111.9c), 7-11 Springvale ($113.9c), Fast Fuel Wantirna ($111.9c) and United Kilsyth ($113.9c).

Suburbs with the highest fuel prices include United Burwood ($151c), Moroney’s Service Station Essendon ($145.9c), 7-Eleven Croydon Hills ($129.9c), Coles Express Bundoora ($125.9c) and BP Connect Clarendon ($124.9c).

Mr Platt said the fuel price cycle was currently in the discounting phase and prices would continue to drop for at least the next week.”

“During this period of declining prices, every day you can avoid filling up will mean savings at the bowser.”
