A drunk driver has turned into Dracula, biting the hand of a man trying to help him after he crashed into a tree.
Matthew Wynne appeared in the Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Friday where he pleaded guilty to driving charges and recklessly causing injury.
On August 3 last year Wynne was behind the wheel driving in Cranbourne on Camms Rd.
As he entered the intersection of Cranbourne-Narre Warren Rd he failed to give way and collided with the back of a Blue Subaru.
Instead of stopping to assist, Wynne drove around the car he had collided with, over the median strip and away from the scene.
The victims in the Blue Subaru followed Wynne as he drove away at “high speed”.
Wynne eventually lost control of his car at an intersection on Bellarine Dr and crashed into a tree.
The victims of the earlier collision caught up with Wynne and went to his car to try and assist him.
After opening the drivers door they noticed Wynne was injured.
Fearing he might try to drive away again, one of victims reached to take the keys out of the ignition.
Wynne became angry, grabbing the victim’s hand and biting him, drawing blood and causing him to need stitches.
After emergency services arrived Wynne was taken to the Dandenong Hospital where a sample of his blood revealed he had cannabis in his system and his BAC was 0.164.
The prosecutor said Wynne told police he had been feeling “depressed lots lately” and “shouldn’t have been behind the wheel”.
Wynne told the court on Friday he had now “got himself better” and had stopped drinking and smoking.
He will be assessed for a community corrections order.
