Mark Bilham: ‘Took my sh*t out on her’ Carrum brute bashed woman with bag

A thirsty Carrum thug launched a violent, vicious attack on his new beau because she didn’t get him a drink from a shop.

Mark Bilham threw a handbag full of perfume bottles at his ex’s head and held her by the throat.

A woman-bashing thug threw a handbag full of perfume bottles at his ex’s head and held her by the throat because she hadn’t bought him a soft drink from Aldi, a court has heard.

Mark Andrew Bilham had only been in a relationship with the young woman, who is 17 years his junior, for eight weeks when he launched his violent tirade.

The 37-year-old Carrum drug addict has a terrible history of attacking his partners and has been jailed before.

Bilham pleaded guilty to drug possession, recklessly causing injury, unlawful assault and riding a bike with no helmet charges at the online Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

The court heard at around 10pm on December 29 last year Bilham and the woman were at his home when an argument broke out over her not buying a beverage for him.

He placed both hands on her throat and pushed her into a couch before she managed to break free and run away.

He then picked up her handbag, which had several glass perfume bottles inside, and launched it at her.

It hit her squarely on the back of her head, causing a deep wound that led to blood streaming down her face.

She ran to her friend’s house nearby and police were called.

Bilham was arrested, telling officers he only threw the bag towards her, not at her.

He said their relationship was “pretty good, but that day was a bad day” and he “took my sh*t out on her”.

Bilham was then forbidden from contacting the woman, but was seen by neighbours arguing with her in the street two weeks later.

Police arrived and he was arrested and remanded in custody.

He was also nabbed with .5g of ice after he was pulled over on a pushbike in Patterson Lakes in August with no helmet on.

His defence lawyer said Bilham “tends to get very angry, very quickly” and can be “toxic, violent and aggressive” towards his partners.

He said his client had drug issues, and he loses control and “behaves abominably” with women.

Magistrate Vicky Prapas said he faces a lengthy stint inside.

“If he doesn’t understand every time he hurts an intimate partner he will go to jail, I don’t know what more we can do,” Ms Prapas said.

“And then he elevates the seriousness of the matter by (breaching) an order taken out to protect her.”

Bilham was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on March 15.
