A man has been repeatedly punched in the face in a vicious attack at a Narre Warren South shopping centre.

The 24-year-old, who asked not to be named, told Leader he and his girlfriend arrived at the Coles carpark at Casey Central and were walking towards the entrance when a man driving a Ford Focus travelling at excessive speed almost hit them.

“As the car got closer he actually accelerated, so he was not stopping at all,” he said.

“I quickly pulled my girlfriend out of the way and we both yelled at the driver. The driver then stopped the car, got out and started punching me in the face. I did not punch back.”

“The driver said to me that my girlfriend should’ve been watching where she was going, but this was just a coward act.”

The young man said he had sustained injuries including a split lip, bruising and a cracked tooth.

“It’s been very sore, I can’t sleep or eat yet, it’s just terrible,” he said.

“Only a low life would sucker punch instead of fighting with honour.”

The 24-year-old victim said he sustained injuries including a split lip, bruising and a cracked tooth when he was punched by a stranger at Casey Central.
