A man has been charged over an alleged hit and run which killed a beloved grandfather in Pakenham South last year.
Don, 60, was driving his Vespa-like scooter on his way to play darts when he was thrown into a drainage ditch by an overtaking vehicle and allegedly left for dead about 7pm February 8, 2021.
Police located Don, unresponsive, near the intersection of Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Rd and Ballarto Rd in Pakenham South.
He was taken to hospital in a critical condition but sadly died later that night.
A Lang Lang man, 51, has been charged with dangerous driving causing death and failing to stop to render assistance after a collision involving death.
Don, a father of two and grandfather of five, had only just retired from a career in bricklaying.
The Lang Lang man was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on July 12.
