THE derelict Ambassador function centre will be demolished within four weeks, says new owner Joanna Kordos.
Ms Kordos told last night’s Frankston Council meeting that she wanted to replace the centre — widely derided as Frankston’s worst eyesore — with a four-storey building featuring 37 luxury apartments.
“We are working towards pioneering a new look for that area to the entry of the peninsula,” she said.

Ms Kordos repeatedly promised councillors that she would demolish the function centre, which has been the focus of anti-social activity including drug dealing and vandalism — within four weeks.
Councillors voted to extend a planning permit for the development.
A council officer’s report stated the owners had requested the extension “as future development has been delayed as a result of market conditions”.
“There have been insufficient presales of the apartments, arranging of finance and ongoing discussions with the building in relation to the costs.”
Ms Kordos told the Leaderthat she wanted to start redeveloping the site as soon as possible.
Leader has been following the sad Ambassador tale for years, but recently rekindled it and readers have called for something to be done.
There was even the suggestion that The Block television show should come in and do a renovation on it.
