A teen was allegedly struck to the head and robbed by a group of young thugs outside Karingal McDonald’s, a court has heard.

Lucas Frings fronted the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with robbery over the disturbing alleged incident on March 12 last year.

The court heard the 17-year-old victim was inside the restaurant when Frings, then aged 21, allegedly walked through the entrance and asked him to “come outside”.

The victim allegedly refused to follow Frings outside but complied when Frings returned and again demanded he exit the restaurant.

The boy allegedly walked outside and was knocked to the ground, grasping onto his mobile phone as up to three people delivered blows to the side of his face and jaw.

“Give me your phone, wallet and money,” one of the alleged attackers yelled.

The thugs allegedly yanked at the victim’s jacket but stopped when they sighted police, taking off with the teen’s Nike cap and mobile phone.

The victim, who was left with swelling to both sides of his jaw and face, told officers he thought a bottle had been thrown at his head however a bottle was not found at the scene.

Frings was identified on McDonald’s CCTV footage however the other two alleged attackers remain on the run, the prosecution said.

Frings spent 25 days in custody over the alleged incident and was bailed but fell back behind bars on February 24 this year over separate charges including trespass, theft from motor vehicle and wilfully damage property, Magistrate Kieran Gilligan heard.

Frings, who appeared online via video link from Port Phillip Prison, will return to court on June 17.
