Lisa Grima: Ice queen’s wild drug-fuelled burglary, theft crime spree

‘Wreaking havoc’: A criminal cleanskin ran riot, burgling sports clubs, houses, stealing cars and possessing bags and bags of drugs.

An ice junkie who went on a crime rampage involving multiple burglaries, car thefts, a ram raid and a police pursuit is facing a long stint behind bars.

Lisa Katherine Grima had never been in trouble with the law before she and her druggie mates went wild across the southeast suburbs and Gippsland.

The Pakenham 34-year-old and her mates nicked cars, broke into sports clubs, busted into houses and stole whatever they could to feed their addictions.

On one occasion she even stooped so low as to steal precious letters and rings that had been kept as keepsakes from a family’s lost loved one.

Grima pleaded guilty to a raft of car thefts, burglaries, handling stolen goods and drugs charges at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

The court heard between September 2019 and May this year she was involved in a long series of crimes.

Grima was part of a burglary at the Garfield Golf Club, with caps, balls and gloves stolen after she and other thieves arrived at the scene in a nicked Ford Ranger ute.

She was then part of a burglary at Yarram Golf Club in which a second ute was stolen, with saws also pinched.

Grima and her mates then did a ram raid at a Welshpool shop and stole $4000 worth of bushcutters.

She was also driving a stolen Subaru involved in a clothing theft from Southland.

Searches of her house uncovered some of the pilfered gear, bags of ice and cannabis and a hard drive with images of her wearing the nicked items.

She was caught with more drugs in a car and had meth when she was found squatting in a house in Cranbourne with a dodgy motorbike parked in the driveway.

She led police on a chase through Drouin in her Holden ClubSport, and when she was later caught she said she drove that way because she was being “abducted”.

She was involved in stealing kitchen fittings from a Frankston house that was under construction, and linked to a stolen Jeep.

A ute and a SUV, a TV, dolls and jewellery were stolen from Botanic Ridge house.

Another burglary on a Bangholme home netted more jewellery, personal items and passports, medication and make-up.

She came unstuck when she was spotted in the stolen ute at the Cranbourne Homemaker Centre.

The ute was packed to the rafters with nicked gear as well as bags of ice, meth pipes and evidence of drug use.

She tried to do a runner but was nabbed by cops, with stolen jewellery in her pocket.

Defence lawyer Claudia Flocke said Grima, a former florist and hairdresser, had no criminal priors and had been in a stable relationship before meeting a new partner.

She then took to drugs in a big way, and committed these crimes to pay for her habit.

She said her client had already spent 153 days in custody and should be released on a corrections order to undergo drug and mental health counselling.

Magistrate Andrew Halse said the sheer quantity of her crimes meant that was not an option, and she would be spending much more time behind bars.

“Tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of items were stolen, obtained or handled by her,” Mr Halse said.

“She has been wreaking havoc all over the place.”

Grima was remanded in custody and will face court again on October 22.
