CASEY Comets Soccer Club has welcomed a State Government election promise of $1.5 million to help upgrade its O’Tooles Rd, Cranbourne, clubrooms.
Club president, Chris McCormick said the promise, announced by Cranbourne Liberal MP Geoff Ablett, was welcome news for a growing club in need of upgraded change and social rooms.
“It’s conditional of the Coalition being re-elected, but it’s a great surprise and we’re more than happy to have it,” Mr McCormick said.
“We have 300 playing members and we cater for men, women and children. We are in one of Melbourne’s fastest expanding areas and we need to plan for future development 10 years out.”
Mr Ablett said the money would go towards adding a second storey to the existing clubrooms, providing new women’s change rooms, a new kitchen and an upstairs viewing area.
“Soccer has grown into one of the most popular sports in our area and this facility will help the Comets continue to grow,” Mr Ablett said.
