A Pakenham woman who violently assaulted and threatened to kill a mother and daughter in a supermarket car park has told a court she is “ashamed” of her behaviour.

Lauren Delves, 29, pleaded guilty in the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on January 23 to assault and making threats to kill, after a terrifying attack on two women in 2022.

The court heard the victims had encountered an extremely strung-out Delves inside the Lakeside Woolworths store in Pakenham on June 26, before seeing her again in the car park.

Delves, in a Toyota Kluger, almost hit the 18-year-old victim who said she recognised Delves from inside the store.

Hearing the teenager’s remarks, Delves launched a torrent of abuse out of the car window saying “I can hear you sl-t, say it my face you f--king sl-t.”

The court heard she then “erratically” drove through the car park, following the mother and daughter to their car.

She parked the Kluger, narrowly missing the victims, before getting out and continuing her abusive rant.

The two women attempted to walk back into the store when the 52-year-old mother began filming the abuse.

Delves then became physical, swinging her hand at the victim, knocking her phone to the ground.

The court heard she continued following the victims, screaming at them as they tried to get away.

“I’m going to follow you home sl-t, I’m going to f--king kill you and your whole family,” she said.

Delves then turned on the teenager, punching her in the face several times, leaving her with facial injuries, before also damaging the victim’s car.

The terrifying attack continued until bystanders intervened.

Delves admitted to being “very heavily drug affected” at the time and submitted a handwritten apology letter to the court.

The court heard she had been experiencing homelessness at the time of the offending and had been using GHB as a “coping mechanism”.

Delves said she was “extremely remorseful” for her actions.

Magistrate Nunzio La Rosa ordered Delves to complete a 24-month community corrections order with conviction.

“What happened back in 2022 traumatised two other people,” he said.

“You said you’re mortified at what happened, clearly that was a different person to who you are now.”
