A DRUG dealer practically invited police to his park pill party by playing loud music, a court has heard.

The 21-year-old man was seen by a passing patrol in a public carpark with three women, tunes blasting out into the Frankston night.

Officers went to investigate and a cocktail of drugs, cash and armaments were found in his vehicle and wallet.

Kailum Newland of Langwarrin pleaded guilty to nine drug trafficking, weapons and proceeds of crime charges at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on April 27.

The court heard police were driving along Cranbourne Rd at around 11pm on July 24 last year when they were alerted to loud late night noises coming from nearby Ballam Park.

Newland was recognised from a previous police chat where he had admitted he took GHB.

When police spoke to him, he appeared nervous — with good reason — as there was a large stash of cash, weapons and recreational and medicinal drugs in his car.

Officers found ketamine, ecstasy, GHB, Xanax, Oxycodone and steroids in the centre console and on the rear seat.

In total they located 8.89g of white powder, 514 tablets, 56ml of liquid drugs, $390 in cash, a knife and a knuckle duster Taser.

A search of his mobile phone revealed text messages detailing his drug dealing.

He admitted he was selling ketamine and had the weapons for self-defence.

Nothing was found on the three women.

His lawyer said Newland had got hooked on Xanax after “self-medicating” as a way to deal with anxiety due to the accidental death of a former partner.

But she said he was now clean, running his own business and had undertaken counselling, and should be spared imprisonment.

Magistrate Ross Betts said the trafficking charges were very serious and would have been deserving of a jail sentence if it wasn’t for Newland’s excellent rehabilitation prospects.

He was sentenced to an 18-month community corrections order, must do 250 hours of unpaid work and receive drug and mental health counselling.

He must also give a sample of his DNA to be filed on police databases.
