A band of thieves has staged a brazen and co-ordinated burglary of seven brand new Ford cars from a Hastings dealership, one of which they are believed to have used for another burglary the following day.

About 2.20am on October 9, the offenders forced entry to the Jeff Wignall Ford dealership on Frankston-Flinders Rd.

Some of the stolen vehicles are yet to be recovered, including a maroon 2015 Ford Everest wagon, a black 2018 Ford Everest SUV and 2 grey 2018 Ford Ranger utes.

A spokesman for Automotive Holdings Group, Jeff Wignall Ford’s parent company, said there was no CCTV footage of the incident and that the theft had caused “a bit of disruption” at the Hastings dealership.

“It’s a major inconvenience but it’s not the end of the world,” the spokesman said.

Police believe one of the stolen cars, a Subaru Outback wagon, was used to carry out a burglary at the Kmart on Hall Rd in Carrum Downs the next day.

On October 10, about 1.50am, two men wearing hoodies and gloves are said to have broken into the store using a crowbar. Police allege they stole three cashboxes.

The vehicle was found burnt out on Yarralumla Drive in Langwarrin less than two hours later.

Anyone with information on either of these incidents is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
