A teen burglar with a liking for Louis Vuitton, a desire for Dior and a penchant for pricey perfumes has escaped a jail term.

Jack Pattison nicked a load of luxury handbags and a swag of fragrances after he rocked up to a Devon Meadows house in a stolen car.

He also took Christian Dior shoes, a set of pillowcases and two lavish keychains in the early morning robbery.

The Berwick 19-year-old pleaded guilty to burglary and theft-related charges at the Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

The court heard Pattison drove a stolen Hyundai, which had been nicked a week before, to the isolated house at around 1am on March 4.

He got out of the vehicle, which had stolen plates attached, jumped a fence and forced entry into the home.

Pattison then ransacked the property, taking three Louis Vuitton handbags, two keychains, a pair of Dior shoes, four pillowcases and nine bottles of expensive perfumes.

The haul he took was valued by the victims at $12,300.

Pattison then drove off, but the burglary had been recorded on CCTV.

He was also filmed on camera driving the same stolen car in Pakenham three days before.

And a police analysis of his phone records showed he was in both areas at those exact times.

Pattison told officers he “wouldn’t have a clue who stole the car” and the person in the CCTV images was another person who had been “wearing the same clothes” as him.

He said the burglary was “someone else’s idea” and he “didn’t steal anything”.

Defence lawyer Hannah Fink said Pattison, who went to Colac Secondary College before coming to Melbourne, had not worked since leaving school.

She said he suffered PTSD, anxiety and depression, and the 53 days he had so far spent on remand had been onerous for him.

She said his time behind bars had been a “rude awakening” and a circuit breaker for her client and he was committed to being rehabilitated.

Pattison told the court he was determined to change his ways, saying “it has taken this to show me this is not the life for me”.

Magistrate Vicky Prapas said he had “cut loose”, been associating with anti-social people, was homeless at times and lost connection with his family.

She said if he didn’t improve his life choices he “may be someone lost to the criminal justice system”.

“The court’s hands will be tied if you continue to commit offences,” Ms Prapas said.

“It will just be jail sentence after jail sentence.

“I really hope this has been your wake-up call.”

Pattison was released from custody and placed on an 18-month community corrections order with drug and mental health treatment conditions.

He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.
