A young woman charged after a baby boy was left outside a home in Melbourne’s southeast, within hours of his birth, has fronted court.
Irine Jerotich, 25, appeared briefly at Dandenong Magistrates Court on Thursday after being charged with conduct endangering life and recklessly causing injury.
An infant, believed to be Ms Jerotich’s son, was found outside a Dandenong North house suffering life threatening injuries on August 30.
He was rushed to Monash Childrens' Hospital and Ms Jerotich was also taken to hospital under police guard.
She was later granted bail.
Ms Jerotich’s lawyer told the court her client was on a student visa and the case was “very sensitive”.
The young woman did not speak during the brief hearing.
She was expected to return to court at a later date.
