Bailey Prentice has been jailed again for threatening his former girlfriend.
Bailey Prentice has been jailed again for threatening his former girlfriend.

A woman-basher just out of jail for attacking his ex in the street is back behind bars after he threatened to “cut up” the “sl*t” and her kids.

Bailey Prentice was a free man for fewer than six weeks before he made the “vile” threat against his former girlfriend and mother of their child.

The Seaford 21-year-old pleaded guilty to threatening to inflict a serious injury and other offences at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

The court heard Prentice was locked up in June this year for saying he would slit the throat of the woman and also for punching her as she walked down a Frankston street.

Taking into account the time he had spent on remand, he was let out on July 26.

But weeks later he was soon back to his intimidating ways.

On September 5 this year he called his former girlfriend on the phone.

When she answered, he said “I’ll cut you and your kids up you sl*t”, leaving the woman shaken and fearful of what he may do.

Two weeks before on August 26 he had texted her with a screenshot of her new partner’s Facebook profile, which she was also pictured on.

She took that as a threat to the both of them.

She reported the incidents to police and on September 7 he was arrested and remanded in custody.

The couple had been together between January 2019 and April this year.

They have one daughter together and she has another child from a previous relationship.

Prentice’s defence lawyer Tony Danos said his client has a long history of drug abuse dating back to his childhood.

“He reacted spontaneously to his fathering (ability) being criticised,” Mr Danos said.

“He deeply regrets those comments.

“He was having a bad day and responded to a message without giving it much thought.”

Magistrate Vicky Prapas said Prentice needs to know every time he offends he will get locked up.

“He steps over the line and threatens her in a vile way,” Ms Prapas said.

Prentice was jailed for three months, minus 58 days he has already served.

When he is released he must do an 18-month community corrections order with drug and mental health counselling as well as a men’s behavioural change program.
