A BRAVE mum has used a vacuum cleaner to fight off a blue-faced woman during a terrifying home invasion.
The 24-year-old mother was asleep in bed next to her six-year-old daughter about 11pm when she woke to find someone in her Frankston house.
Frankston detective Senior-Constable John Melhuish said she walked out of the bedroom and saw the woman, who police suspect had been chroming.
“We believe she entered through an unlocked front door,” Sen-Constable Melhuish said.
“The woman had blue around her mouth and was disoriented, substance affected.
“We believe the woman had connections to the house and had been there in the past.”
He said the victim tried to tell the woman to get out, but the woman refused to leave.
A scuffle ensued, which resulted in the victim fighting off the intruder with a vacuum cleaner.
“She didn’t want to wake her daughter so was trying to get her out of the house as quietly as possible,” Sen-Constable Melhuish said.
“Unfortunately the child woke up and was very distressed.”
A 28-year-old Frankston woman was arrested soon after and charged with aggravated burglary and assault-related offences.
She has been bailed to appear at Frankston Magistrates Court on June 23.
