A police sergeant accused of dragging another police officer for 10m while driving away after being pulled over and later resisting arrest will know this week whether he should stand trial.

A four-day committal hearing began in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday for

Mornington man Hayden Bodycomb who is facing charges of intentionally exposing emergency workers to risk, recklessly exposing emergency workers to risk, conduct endangering persons, and resisting arrest.

Mr Bodycomb, 49, had been pulled over by police at Somerville on October 4, 2023 where he spoke to officers before allegedly holding onto the arm of a cop as he drove away.

He allegedly dragged the officer for 10m before releasing him.

Mr Bodycomb was taken into custody on a later date after he attended Mornington Police Station for an appointment.

It’s alleged he resisted arrest and was later capsicum sprayed and taken to the Frankston Hospital for psychiatric assessment.

Police officers are among witnesses that will be called to give evidence during the committal hearing before Magistrate Andrew Waters before a decision is made whether Mr Bodycomb should stand trial in the County Court.
