It may have been the unlikely pairing, but a couple of Hollywood character wannabes not only failed in their attempted break-in but were snapped by CCTV cameras.
It appeared a man dressed as Harry Potter was hoping a simple alohamora charm would open the door, as he was armed with a wand as he tried to break into Emerald’s Mitre 10 with an accomplice decked out as Toy Story’s Woody.
However, his attempts proved riddikulus, and both men left Main St hardware store in what police believe was a stolen grey Mercedes sedan with false registration ATX214.
Police say the vehicle the duo used in this incident was stolen in Tempelstowe.
When the men came back in the same vehicle about 2am – not in the Weasley’s flying car – they allegedly attempted to jimmy open the front door, causing damage but failing to get inside.
Harry Potter had removed his costume by then, after Woody realised this town ain’t big enough for the two of us.
Police have released descriptions of the two men they are looking for.
The first man is described as a caucasian male, wearing a “Woody” costume from Toy Story and a black cap.
The second is described as a caucasian male, wearing a “Harry Potter” costume complete with the wand and grey tracksuit pants.
