“My brother said I would have fun in the playground, and I’ve got new shoes.”

“I enjoyed seeing my whole class and going outside on the playground,” Berwick prep Aliya Ingham said.

For Allegra Di Giorgio, it was the simple things that got her excited.

“Colouring in was the most fun,” she said.

Berwick campus’ head of junior school Michele McGill said the day had been eagerly anticipated.

“Our prep students look so grown up in their uniforms, and on their first day we love inviting parents to see their child’s locker and work space for the year,” she said.

“Later in the day, all the students had their photos taken with a ‘first day of Prep’ sign, commemorating the occasion.”

Ms McGill said the first day of school was something teacher’s also looked forward to.

“It’s the start of a fresh year, with new students,” she said.

“It can be exhausting, but it’s also incredibly rewarding when first day tears are replaced with big beautiful smiles.”
