CRANBOURNE Football Club is on a high after it secured a $2 million Coalition commitment for a new ground, parking for supporters to watch from their cars, clubrooms and lighting, at Casey Fields.
Club president Shane Baker said the Eagles — who fell just short of Casey Cardinia Football League glory this season — were excited by the announcement, made by Cranbourne state Liberal candidate Geoff Ablett at the club’s presentation night.
“Our club is located in one of the fastest growth corridors in Australia and we anticipate a significant growth in participation within our area,” Mr Baker said.
“This money will certainly go a long way to helping facilitate that growth.”
“Our current facility cannot cope with the potential growth rates, so rather than turn people away, we need to find a way to bring them into our sporting club and accommodate them.”
“It will give us the opportunity to add a new ground, increase our change room and social rooms to ensure more community usage, as well as improve usability for winter sports.”
Mr Ablett said it was “great to be able to give back to a club that does so much for the local community”.
“I’ve been working hard to secure funding for this project,” Mr Ablett said
“Not only is this announcement great news for local families, who will have access to better sporting facilities, it will also create jobs in our area during construction.”
