PAMPERED pooches are packing their bags for an indulgent weekend away.
The getaway includes window seats in a chauffeured bus, luxury accommodation at Blue Moon Cottages in Rye, lots of walks, some culture at McClelland Gallery and Sculpture Park, a relaxing massage and goodie bag.
Their human travelling companions will also be spoiled, with tastings at two venues, breakfast hampers, three-course lunches, private dinners prepared by Freshwater Catering and entry to Peninsula Hot Springs.
The lavish weekend is being offered by Gourmet Pawprints, known for its dog friendly winery tours. It is the first time the business has organised a weekend away.
Gourmet Pawprints Founder Kerry Watt said the trip would give people a chance to share every aspect of a weekend away with their four-legged friend.
“The only activity planned that the dogs are not able to take part in is the visit to the hot springs,” she said.
“The dogs won’t miss out on that pampering aspect as we have organised for a professional therapist from Paw Things to visit the cottages and give each dog a massage.”
Ms Watt started Gourmet Pawprints in 2013, hosting dog friendly winery tours to Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Valley and Daylesford.
“I love my dog (kelpie Diesel) and I don’t like to leave him home when I go out,” she said. “I also love visiting wineries, entertaining and cooking.
“I was disgruntled with the corporate world and was looking for a way to combine the things I love into some form of business. That’s when the concept was born.”
Regular participants in the winery tours asked when a weekend away would be offered and Ms Watts started searching for the right venues and activities.
“We put a lot of work into selecting venues. It has to be truly welcoming for dogs.”
The dogs also had to be desexed, vaccinated and mind their manners.”
The Gourmet Weekend Getaway Tour is on September 9-11. Details: gourmetpawprints.com.au
