Falling trees have destroyed two cars on the Mornington Peninsula as extreme weather conditions continue to batter the area.
The first vehicle was crushed by a tree on Mornington-Flinders Road, Main Ridge on Sunday night and another car was hit on Monday afternoon.
A couple in the car hit at Main Ridge were lucky to escape without injury and no one was hurt in the second incident.
A third tree crashed onto Boneo Road, Cape Schanck about noon on Tuesday.
The road was blocked near The Cups Drive but no vehicles were hit by the falling pine.
Sorrento SES urged motorists to slow down in the “extreme weather conditions” and be aware of their surroundings.
“Not much more terrifying than turning out to a ‘tree down’ job only to find yet another vehicle that had taken the full hit of the fallen tree,” a spokesman said.
“Once again, we are pleased to say no one was injured here. Another very lucky escape!”
The warning sparked complaints from residents that not enough was being done to ensure local trees were safe.
“Most of the trees on the Peninsula need to be reviewed for safety. Too many are coming down,’ a woman posted to social media.
“Someone may not be as lucky next time.”
“This is terrifying,” another woman posted.
