A young Frankston mum has been offered another chance to “get her life right” in court after she stole multiple cars across Melbourne and crashed one into a ditch.
Shaye Skan, 28, appeared in the Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Monday where she pleaded guilty to a string of charges including theft of motor vehicle, possessing meth, driving disqualified and theft.
The court heard that in March 2020 Skan was caught driving while disqualified shortly before she jumped a fence in Dandenong and stole a hot water service from a unit on Bruce St.
In 2021 Skan was spotted filling up with petrol at an EG petrol station in Clayton.
She was driving a car with false plates and after filling up with $106 worth of fuel she drove off without paying and without wearing a seatbelt.
In January 2022, Skan was captured on camera on Peninsula Link getting out of a stolen Mazda when it appeared to break down
Police attended the scene and the canine unit helped to track down Skan.
When she was found near her home she was in possession of a bag of meth.
In September 2022 Skan drove a stolen car into the back of another parked car which then caused that car to roll forward into another in Seaford.
When police arrived Skan refused to undergo a drug test.
In October 2022 Skan was seen driving a stolen car “erratically” in Pearcedale where she collided with a Land Cruiser before continuing to drive and collide with a Mercedes Benz.
She then hit a wire barrier and a tree before ending up in a ditch before she fled the scene on foot.
Then in February this year Skan was busted behind the wheel of another stolen car when she went to a Coles Express in Lancastrian and used a card that had been inside the stolen car to purchase cigarettes.
She also used the card to buy McDonalds.
Her final offending in March this year Skan stole $160 of petrol from a 7/11 in Mooroolbark.
Defence submitted to the court she was turning her life around for the sake of her four children.
She will be assessed for a community corrections order and return to court later this week.
