A promising footballer spiralled into drug use after his identity was stolen by a predator and he was pegged as a stalker when he was a teenager, a court has heard
John Noonan, 35, faced the Frankston Magistrates Court on Monday where he faced charges of drug possession and trafficking.
Noonan was charged with trafficking and possessing a cocktail of drugs including ketamine, MDMA, and cannabis after police raided his Cranbourne home in August last year.
Police also found metal block presses, butane gas bottles, labels and capsules, and other paraphernalia commonly associated with drug trafficking.
The court also heard a window in Noonan’s home had been covered with cardboard which police believed was to stop people seeing in.
When police searched Noonan’s phone and iPad they found photos of drugs and trafficking equipment, as well as messages which showed Noonan was selling drugs to others.
The court heard Noonan had been a promising footballer in his younger years before suffering a major leg injury after a near fatal skateboarding accident.
The court also heard he now works for a company that does major clean up jobs on mining sites and previously worked at his family’s pool and spa business.
Noonan was the victim of a major identity theft when he was 19 which saw him pinned as a stalker after a man stole his identity and harassed women online, including a famous netballer, and driving another to thoughts of suicide.
Noonan was convicted and fined $7500.
He was also placed on an adjourned undertaking where he promised to be of good behaviour for nine months.
