Frankston Magistrates Court: Anthony White wielded axe around Frankston CBD, told barista he’d slit her throat

A mad man who stalked the Frankston CBD while armed with an axe terrorising bystanders also threatened to slice a woman’s throat.

A man whose wild antics in public including wielding an axe and menacing bystanders in the Frankston CBD and threatening to slice a woman’s throat has been jailed.

Anthony White, 46, appeared in the Frankston Magistrates Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to several charges relating to weapons, drugs, theft and making threats.

In October last year several people made calls to 000 after they saw White walking around the Frankston CBD with an axe.

When police arrived he was found near a footbridge with a pick axe and a large suitcase.

He ran away from police but they caught up with him and arrested him.

The suitcase was searched and inside was a large kitchen knife.

Almost a year prior to this White had stolen a charity tin from a charcoal chicken shop in Carrum which had more than $300 in it.

In March this year White was busted in Brighton acting “suspiciously” and carrying drugs and a glass breaking tool on him.

In August this year White was at a McDonalds in Nunawading when he sat across from a group of men and stared at them, muttering under his breath.

He challenged one of the men to go outside with him and got up in the faces of the whole group.

A barista at the store began to call police but White saw and told her he would “slit (her) throat”.

“I am going to wait until you finish work and I’m going to slit your throat,” he said.

The woman was so scared she stopped the phone call with police.

White was also found on multiple occasions with drugs including cannabis.

He was sentenced to five months in jail and fined him $400 for the cannabis possession.

White had already spent 50 days in custody and a conviction was recorded.
