Three boys have been charged after allegedly attempting to rob a woman at Southland train station and threatening another boy with a knife at Mentone.

The alleged attempted armed robbery and armed robbery took place at the train stations on the Frankston line on Tuesday morning.

Police believe the boys were at the Southland train station when they attempted to rob a female, about 8am.

It’s believed they then caught another train from Cheltenham to Mentone where the boys allegedly produced a knife and made demands for property from a 14-year-old boy.

The group fled the scene and were arrested nearby.

No one was physically injured during the incidents.

A 13-year-old boy has been cautioned and a 14-year-old boy is expected to be charged on summons with armed robbery and attempted robbery at a later date.

A 17-year-old boy has been cleared of blame and released pending further inquiries.
