Police are investigating after a former IGA store in the Yarra Valley was destroyed by a suspicious fire on Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were called to the Warburton Hwy scene at about 1.40am on June 13, discovering the empty store ablaze.

Firefighters worked to stop the fire spreading to a nearby Warburton business, however the former supermarket was gutted.

A Victoria Police spokesman said the site had been declared a crime scene and would undergo “forensic examination”.

Police are seeking any dash cam footage or any person who witnessed anyone in the area at the time,” he said.

The former supermarket has sat empty for a number of years, with a second IGA store operating on the other side of the highway.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact the Yarra Ranges crime investigation unit on 9739 2401.
