Former Frankston state election candidate and veteran police officer Michael Lamb allegedly indecently assaulted a woman a decade ago, a court has heard.
Michael David Lamb faced Frankston Magistrates’ Court this morning on one charge of intentionally assaulting the woman in indecent circumstances knowing that she was not consenting.
The senior sergeant’s sex charge case was adjourned for a filing hearing later this month.
A charge sheet inspected by Leaderrevealed the 53-year-old allegedly committed the act between December 1, 2009 and December 24, 2009.
A summary of details surrounding the alleged crime was not released.
Mr Lamb is politically notorious for a trainwreck interview as a Liberal candidate.
The copper of 30 years was vying for the state seat of Frankston when he had the infamous interview with Sky News host David Speers in November last year.
Mr Lamb was roasted on social media for stumbling over details of the Opposition’s energy policy regarding who should fund and of what type a new power station should be.
He was also photographed campaigning with then-opposition leader Matthew Guy at a Frankston cafe run by a woman who had been convicted of cultivating marijuana.
In his role as senior sergeant, Mr Lamb oversaw all drug investigations in the Frankston area.
At the poll he was roundly defeated by Labor MP Paul Edbrooke.

And earlier this year he was suspended from the Force over allegations he leaked police information four times in a six-month period in 2018.
In February this year, Victoria Police said an officer had been charged by Professional Standards Command.
“The Senior Sergeant from Southern Metro region has been charged with four counts of disclosing police information without reasonable excuse,” a statement said.
Mr Lamb is listed to next appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on October 25.
