DEDICATED Peninsula volunteers are bringing Christmas cheer to hundreds of people facing the festive season alone or with limited funds.
About 480 families will receive a much-needed hamper and toys thanks to the southern Peninsula’s Food for All charity.
Food for All president Ken Northwood said the distribution of hampers at Christmas helped him to connect with the yuletide spirit.

Mr Northwood said the group, which also distributes food parcels throughout the year, was receiving increasing requests for support.
“It’s the mission of Food for All that no one on the southern Peninsula goes hungry,” he said.
“We don’t discriminate in any way. We take people at face value.”
Veteran volunteer Diane Falconer said she loved being able to help those in need with the hampers at Christmas.
“It always makes my Christmas. It would not be the same without it. I love it,” she said.
“We do it (distribute food parcels) all year round, but at Christmas it’s really special.”
Volunteer Sue Abbott, who is in charge of the toy component of the hampers, said they helped children who might not otherwise receive a gift to celebrate Christmas.
“I like that they (recipients) don’t have to worry about not being able to give to their children a present at Christmas,” she said.
“There’s nothing second hand.”
The charity’s annual Christmas appeal has reached $38,419 of its $55,000 target.
Co-ordinator Diane Falconer said churches, op shops and residents had contributed to keep the appeal on track.
Food for All last year provided 511 Christmas hampers together with toys to 505 children.
Collection bins for non perishable goods are at Woolworths Rosebud, Capel Sound and Rye; Coles Rosebud and McCrae; and Ritchies Dromana.
All donations of $2 and more are tax deductible and can be sent to Food for All, PO Box 440, Rosebud, 3939. Phone 5988 4353.
