A disgruntled dad who punched and kicked a former colleague at a Keysborough supermarket blamed his violent actions on unpaid cash.

Allan Morris, 39, pleaded guilty at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Friday to unlawful assault.

The court heard Morris was walking down an aisle in Woolworths at Parkmore Shopping Centre in December 2019 when he spotted a former colleague.

Morris walked up to the man and said he owed him money.

Morris became angry and pushed the man causing him to fall into the supermarket shelves.

He then punched and kicked the man in the face.

Morris’ lawyer Lancelot Stewart said the father-of-two received treatment for depression and bipolar disorder.

“He left school in year 10 after being bullied and is on the disability support pension for learning difficulties,” he said.

Mr Stewart said Morris had worked at a caravan company for eight years before they reduced his hours and he left.

Magistrate Studham said Morris’ actions were violent.

He was convicted and placed on a community corrections order for 12 months.
