A cowardly bully with a love for hating women has done it again, this time assaulting a pregnant ex at a Frankston health clinic.

A “cowardly, misogynistic bully” with a history of attacking women has been jailed for threatening his heavily pregnant ex-lover in a Frankston medical clinic.
Daniel Minahan scared his former partner and put her in fear for her safety by standing over her, smashing her phone and telling her to “shut the f*** up bitch” when she tried to call police.
The Frankston 31-year-old also stole a car from a sleeping woman at a party, nicked food and drink from servos and was caught carrying a hammer at a train station.
Minahan was high on ice at the time, and before crashing the stolen car he lay down in the middle of the road in a drug-induced state.
He pleaded guilty to thefts, aggravated assault of a female, unlicensed driving and bail breach charges at the online Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
The court heard a seven-month pregnant woman and her partner were at a Frankston medical centre on August 27 last year when Minahan walked into the same clinic.
He went over to the female and started “standing over” her and her boyfriend, who he knew, before asking the man to go outside.
The woman picked up her phone and was about to call police when Minahan grabbed it off her, smashed it and warned her not to call the cops.
She was scared that he may attack both of them and was also worried the stress may affect her unborn baby.
Minahan left, but was later found by PSOs at the Dandenong train station with a hammer in his pocket.
Then on Boxing Day he was at a party in Traralgon when he stole car keys from a sleeping woman’s handbag.
Despite having no licence he took the car and drove to a Mt Eliza servo, where he stole $164 worth of mobile phone accessories.
A few hours later he was seen lying in the middle of a road in Langwarrin before getting back behind the wheel and crashing into a guard rail in Frankston South.
Police arrived but couldn’t find him as he had run off and hid in dense scrub, but he had left his personal items inside the crashed car, which now bore stolen number plates.
A few hours after that he was then seen wandering a Frankston street in a drug-addled state and arrested.
Minahan has a shocking history of violence towards former girlfriends dating back nearly a decade.
He also has priors for armed robbery, assaults, handling stolen goods, weapons, drugs and burglaries.
His defence lawyer said Minahan accepted he had behaved in an unacceptable manner and it was “not a good incident”.
She said drugs were the most significant issue for her client, and he had relapsed into using during the crime spree.
Magistrate Gerard Lethbridge said telling a heavily pregnant woman to “shut the f*** bitch” in a busy medical clinic was “appalling, misogynistic, cowardly, bullying behaviour”.
“He has a really terrible, terrible record for offending, in particular for violence and regrettably violence against women,” Mr Lethbridge said.
“He can’t keep harming people who are vulnerable, people who are weaker than him.
“Unless there is change, he’s going to be spending significant periods of time in custody.”
Minahan was jailed for eight months, minus 166 days he has already served, fined $500 and disqualified from driving for 12 months.
