A teenager has been stabbed as he tried to break up a fight between his friend and a man outside a Dandenong bus stop.
The innocent bystander was allegedly stabbed by the man, who had earlier argued with other school kids on a bus, on the afternoon of October 28.
The 17-year-old was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries while the man ran off towards Dandenong Plaza.
Transit crime investigation unit detectives said the man boarded a bus about 4pm in Doveton and began arguing with schoolchildren on board.
The teenager then boarded the bus with his friend as it arrived at Clow St in Dandenong.
The man and the teenager’s friend then got into a physical fight, and the man allegedly produced a sharp item as the brawl moved from the bus to the bus stop outside.
Police said the teen was trying to stop the fight between his friend and the man when he was allegedly stabbed by the man, who then ran away.
The man is described as caucasian, 170cm, aged about 30, with dark hair with a small tribal-like star on the back of his left hand.
Investigators have released CCTV and images of a man they believe can help with their inquiries.
