A learner driver who allegedly crashed into his mate’s car while hooning in Dandenong this morning is expected to front court.
The 23-year-old Cranbourne man was behind the wheel of a white Holden Commodore wagon when he allegedly did a burnout on the Dandenong Bypass about 12.45am and collided with the back of a white Mazda sedan.
Members from the Dandenong frontline tactical unit and Greater Dandenong highway patrol were patrolling the area as part of a crackdown on hoon drivers when they came across the crash.
The passenger of the Holden Commodore and the driver of the Mazda were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries following the incident.
Checks revealed the driver of the Commodore was a learner and the vehicle was unregistered.
He is expected to be charged on summons with numerous traffic offences including being an unaccompanied learner driver, careless driving and failing to have proper control of a motor vehicle.
