A Carrum Downs man who caused a three-car pile up on a major road in Melbourne’s southeast appeared in court from prison where he is serving time for trafficking a commercial quantity of ice.
Glenn Mazzacca, 43, pleaded guilty in Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on October 4 after refusing to do an oral fluid test following a three-car collision.
Mazzacca fronted court on Friday via an audio visual link where he represented himself.
The court heard Mazzacca was involved in a three-car pile up on May 19 in 2022 on Frankston-Dandenong Rd at Lyndhurst.
Mazzacca collided with two stationary cars leaving his details with one of the other motorists.
The court heard Mazzacca returned to the scene a short time later, where he underwent a breath test and returned a negative result, before refusing to undergo an oral fluid test.
He told police he had “taken something after the crash to calm himself down”.
Officers later discovered Mazzacca had also been driving unlicensed.
Mazzacca told police he knew he wasn’t licensed, but had to “drive to work”.
“The cars ahead of me were well and truly in front, but then I looked up and they were just there,” he said.
“I slammed on the anchors and tried to miss but I wasn’t successful.”
On Friday, Mazzacca told the court he was already serving time for a commercial trafficking charge, where his earliest release was dated for October 2025.
Magistrate Jacinta Studham sentenced him to spend two months behind bars to be served alongside his trafficking sentence.
Mazzacca was also convicted and fined $500 for refusing to do an oral fluid test and his licence was suspended and cancelled for four years.
Ms Studham further convicted and fined Mazzacca $800 for the unlicensed driving charge.
