Coles Heidelberg, Patterson Lakes, staff isolate as workers test positive to COVID-19 across 25 Melbourne locations
Grocery giant Coles has been hit by the coronavirus, with workers at Patterson Lakes and Heidelberg Warringal Mall the latest to test positive. And total of 30 staff been infected across 25 locations across Melbourne since July.

Staff from 25 Coles stores across Melbourne have tested positive to COVID-19.
And at least 30 cases in total have been connected to the grocery giant, with two infections linked to the Braybrook Central West Plaza, Braybrook Ballarat Rd, Cardinia Lakes, Coburg North, Greenvale and Victoria Gardens stores.
The latest infections have been reported at Heidelberg Warringal Mall and Patterson Lakes.
The employee’s last shifts were on August 16 at Heidelberg Warringal Mall, August 13 at Patterson Lakes, August 9 at Coburg Sydney Rd, August 7 at Lalor Plaza, August 6 at Altona, August 5 at Cardinia Lakes, August 3 at Clyde North, August 2 at Elsternwick, July 28 at Braybrook Central West Plaza, July 26 at Braybrook Central West Plaza and Tarneit Central, July 25 at Drouin, Heritage Springs and Wyndham Vale, July 24 at Braybrook Ballarat Rd, July 23 at Victoria Gardens, July 22 at Victoria Gardens, July 21 at Noble Park, July 20 at Mooroolbark, July 19 at Cardinia Lakes and Coburg North, July 18 at Campbellfield and Prahran, July 17 at Braybrook Ballarat Rd, Greenvale, Flemington and Vermont South, July 16 at Coburg North, July 14 at Keilor, July 13 at Tooronga Village and July 5 at Greenvale.
It is unclear if the disease was spread among the two Braybrook Central West Plaza and Cardinia Lakes workers, with contact tracing suggesting the virus was not spread among employees at Braybrook Ballarat Rd, Coburg North, Greenvale and Victoria Gardens.
Management confirmed all stores would continue to trade and that the risk of transmission to customers and team members was “very low”.
“Coles’ standard cleaning procedures comply with the Federal Government’s COVID-19 Hygiene Practices For Supermarkets and frequent sanitisation has occurred in the week since the team member(s) (were) last on site,” a statement read.
“Consistent with prior practice developed with the Victorian Department of Health, the store(s) can continue to trade and the risk of transmission for customers and team members is very low.”
