A teen allegedly caught doing 90km/h over the speed limit in Melbourne’s southeast is among the latest group of people nabbed by police for breaking Stage 4 lockdown restrictions.
Police arrested the 17-year-old after he evaded police in Clyde on Thursday, August 13.
Cardinia highway patrol officers detected a car travelling at 170km/h in an 80km/h zone in about 8.20pm.
Officers attempted to intercept the car on Limeburner Grove in Botanic Ridge but the driver allegedly failed to stop.
The Police Air Wing assisted officers on the ground, who successfully deployed tyre deflation options shortly after.
The driver then returned to Limeburner Grove and pulled into an address before being arrested.
He was interviewed and is expected to be charged with conduct endangering life and failing to stop.
The teen was also found to be in breach of the directions issued by the Chief Health Officer and was issued a penalty notice.
He will appear at a Children’s Court at a later date.
