Clyde North crime: Maeve Court wetlands water rescue by police after alleged teen chase
A quirky police chase turned into a rescue effort in Clyde North after a pair of teens fleeing police found they couldn’t swim.

It was all in a day’s work for the gang crime squad who pulled off a daring Clyde North rescue before cuffing their perps.
Detectives were on a job and monitoring an allegedly stolen car for an hour before they stopped the vehicle on Maeve Court about 8.15pm on Thursday, June 10.
Victoria Police Senior Constable Alistair Parsons said the officers tried to arrest two teens who ran from the car into the Cascade on Clyde wetlands.
Sen-Constable Parson said the teens fled into the water and tried to swim away from police.
He said a Dandenong North 18-year-old, who was unable to swim, needed to be saved by police.
A second teen, from Glen Waverley, who is 17, was found floating semiconscious by police 20 minutes after detective rescued his friend.
Sen-Constable Parson said both teens were taken to hospital with hypothermia.
Police have charged an 18-year-old with theft of a motor vehicle and drug possession, while the 17-year-old has been charged with aggravated burglary relating to a June 4, Koo Wee Rup incident.
