Clinton Bellette: Jail for junkie who bashed dad, mum, girlfriend

Sadistic son slotted: This angry, aggressive, abusive drug-addicted bully might not be so quick to lash out now he’s behind bars.

Clinton Bellette has been jailed for bashing his mum, dad and girlfriend.
Clinton Bellette has been jailed for bashing his mum, dad and girlfriend.

A brute who violently attacked his nearest and dearest, punching his dad, dragging his mum by her hair and burning his girlfriend will be spending 18 months behind bars.

Clinton James Bellette smacked his father in an argument over puppies and assaulted his mother after a disagreement at her house where she had kindly let him stay.

The Seaford thug also headbutted, bit and knocked his partner onto a hot stove when she called him out for being a bad dad after he had fallen asleep in a drug-induced lethargy while he was meant to be looking after their child.

The unemployed 31-year-old pleaded guilty to a series of assaults, bail breaches and other offences at the Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The court heard in July 2018 the druggie came home to his then partner after a three-day bender to look after their child.

But a short time later he fell asleep and when the woman woke him up he became aggressive and headbutted her.

Later he again attacked her, this time biting her hand and lashing out, causing her to fall onto a hot stove and burn her back.

In August last year he was with his 74-year-old father at his Cranbourne home when he started a fight over puppies.

He punched his dad in the face and only stopped the assault when his sister and her partner restrained him.

And then in December last year Bellette was staying at his 53-year-old mother’s Frankston house when she overheard him and his new partner arguing.

He threw a cigarette lighter at his mum, grabbed her by the hair and repeatedly punched her in the face before she managed to escape and be rescued by neighbours.

Bellette’s defence lawyer said he had had issues with cannabis and ice after an accident with a forklift which left him in a wheelchair for two years.

She said her client “fell into drug use to numb the pain” and combined with heavy drinking he had struggled to “maintain a sober life”.

Magistrate Vicky Prapas said Bellette’s actions will not be accepted.

“I’m sending a message to you that violence against women, against family, will not be tolerated by the community,” Ms Prapas said.

“The community must be protected from your behaviour.”

Bellette was jailed for 18 months with a non-parole period of 12 months, minus 113 days he has already served.
