Christopher Fry fighting more than 30 allegations including $125k in stolen cars, petrol and car keys

A Clayton man who prefers his cars with the Holden Lion and with a V8 has been accused of stealing vehicles across Melbourne, including a $70,000 red GTS.

A Clayton man fighting more than 30 charges including the theft of a $70,000 sport cars could be released on bail in just days.

Christopher Fry fronted the Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court on November 23 facing a novel’s length of charges, many of them relating to stealing cars, particularly Holdens.

The court heard police alleged Mr Fry began his offending on March 16 2022 when he allegedly stole a car and car keys from a Ferntree Gully property and drove while disqualified.

The court heard Mr Fry came to police’s attention again in December 2022, when he was allegedly busted trespassing at 888 Collins St in Docklands.

Mr Fry is alleged to have stolen a car from that property on December 8, while also allegedly having damaged two other vehicles in the process.

The court heard Mr Fry was in police custody on December 9 and released the following day where he allegedly went straight back to offending, by allegedly handling multiple stolen car keys and being in possession of tools that could be used for burglary.

Mr Fry popped back up on the police radar in Melton on December 20, where he allegedly stole a red 2013 Holden GTS sedan valued at $70,000 and later in the day allegedly attempted to steal a 2006 black Holden GTS sedan in Wantirna South.

The court heard on December 21, Mr Fry allegedly stole $121.34 of petrol from a Kealba servo, and again allegedly stole $132.56 worth of petrol from a servo across the city in Hampton Park again on the same day where he is also alleged to have dishonestly handled stolen licence plates and drove while disqualified.

The court heard Mr Fry allegedly tried his luck at stealing a car again in Flemington on January 10 and allegedly stole a green 2008 Holden Ute on February 16 in Burwood East valued at $35,000.

It is also alleged Mr Fry stole two licence plates in Springvale on February 16 and again drove while disqualified in Burwood East and Oakleigh.

The court heard he allegedly failed to appear on bail on February 17 and allegedly drove a stolen ute on February 24 in Clayton and Clayton South.

It is also alleged Mr Fry refused to unlock a computer at police’s request and handled stolen goods in Cranbourne on February 27 when he drove a yellow 2011 Holden HSV GTS sedan which police also allege he knew was stolen.

As a result of these allegations, Mr Fry is facing charges of committing indictable offences while on bail.

In court on Thursday Magistrate Luisa Bazzani granted bail for Mr Fry on the matters before the Moorabbin court, but he remained in police custody on other matters.

Mr Fry will appear in Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on November 27 in another bail application in order to secure his freedom.
