A woman whose father was allegedly murdered in a Dandenong South caravan park, has made a desperate appeal for financial support.

The daughter of alleged murder victim Chris Lyons, who was stabbed to death in a Dandenong South Caravan Park, has described the family’s state as “absolutely desperate.”
Maddy Lyons has set up a GoFundMe page in order raise money for a memorial service, as well as to pay for her brother’s psychological support after he witnessed the event and was hospitalised with stab wounds himself.
“I am not one to ever ask for money but we are absolutely desperate for any help,” Ms Lyons wrote on a GoFundMe page seeking to raise $6000.
Mr Lyons, 41, was allegedly stabbed 11 times at Shawlands Caravan Park at 10pm on Saturday, just hours before Father’s Day.
Police arrested 25-year-old Jeremy Newell on Monday over the alleged murder.
In a brief court appearance on the same day the court was told by Mr Newell’s lawyer that he had a “significant intellectual disability.”
It is understood that Mr Newell was a neighbour of Mr Lyons at the caravan park, and that the alleged stabbing occurred when an altercation broke out between the two and Mr Lyons’ partner and son.
Ms Lyons said that her father’s alleged murder has “left the family absolutely lost”.
“My family and I cannot afford a memorial on our own,” she said on the GoFundMe page.
Ms Lyons said she was hoping to fly her grandparents, who are both pensioners, from Tasmania to attend their son’s memorial.
She said her brother would require three months therapy on an injured hand, and added that “the psychological trauma of watching the incident is going to cost a decent amount of money for him even to begin to cope”.
