Hoons have been tearing up the streets of the southeastern suburbs, leaving smoking tyre tracks in their wake.

Police impounded three cars in two separate incidents in Hallam and Cranbourne West overnight, with three men aged 18-20 set to be charged on summons for their alleged behaviour.

In the first incident, Casey highway patrol officers pulled over the drivers in three suspicious cars on Centre Rd in Hallam on June 3 at 10pm.

They noticed two of the cars intentionally losing traction with the road and impounded them for 30 days, at a cost of $1038.

The drivers of the cars, two Narre Warren men aged 18 and 19, are expected to be charged on summons for their alleged behaviour.

Meanwhile, Cardinia Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of a car doing burnouts on Paramount Boulevard in Cranbourne West on June 4 at 1am.

They found shredded tyre debris and tyre markings on the road, and tracked the marks for nearly two kilometres to Jasa Crescent, where a man was allegedly removing the rim from his car.

Police impounded the 20-year-old man’s car for 30 days, at a cost of $1038, and he is also expected to be charged with intentionally losing traction with the road.

The impounds were part of the statewide Operation Achilles, an ongoing police operation targeting illegal hoon driving and behaviour.
