Caleb Jakobsson spent seven years behind bars after he left Andrea Lehane for dead outside the Carrum Downs shopping centre in September 2015, but quickly returned to old ways months after being set free.
Jakobsson was sentenced on Friday to 18 months’ jail and an 18-month community corrections order for 33 driving and drug-related offences at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
He was also fined $2000.
Magistrate William Parker said Jakobsson was “fortunate not to have killed anyone”.
“It is staggering you would commit these offences when you already know the consequences,” Mr Parker said.
The court previously heard an off-duty police officer spotted Jakobsson speeding and weaving aggressively between traffic on a motorcycle in Dandenong North on May 3, 2024, before he slammed into the rear of a truck.
He had no licence at the time, the bike had no registration plates and he was found to have meth in his system.

Months later on September 19, Jakobsson was spotted driving a stolen car at Frankston at speeds up to 159km/h, before he rammed a police car and sped off.
He drove to Frankston with burst tyres where he ditched the car and fled on foot before he was later arrested.
Police later found key fob programmers, a slew of drugs, an extendible baton and a breaker kit containing car keys and lock picks.
Jakobsson stole another car from a Frankston home on March 1, 2025, and when police later found him in the car at his Seaford property he climbed onto the roof to avoid arrest.
Jakobsson attacked officers trying to arrest him, including hitting one with a piece of wood.
He managed to escape by jumping over a rear fence, and was arrested eight days later
after another foot chase where he broke his ankle and threatened police screaming,
“I’m going stab you, you f — king dogs.”
Mr Parker told Jakobsson he had “all the foundations” to turn his life around but said his rehabilitation relied on the 28-year-old remaining drug free.
The court heard Jakobsson had repeatedly shown remorse for his offending and was “doing well” in custody.
Jakobsson has already served seven months of his jail term.
