Brass Razu is famous for its signature Long Island Iced Tea served in a silver teapot and sipped with friends on a couch in the Mornington bar’s Velvet Room.
But lockdowns meant the family owned business had to find another way for customers to enjoy its whimsical and quirky cocktails.
The Main Street venue started selling a unique range of spirits with a little magic added by Brass Razu.
“Our Unicorn Tears Gin has been especially popular,” bar owner Alexis Collier said.
“We sourced a really good quality London dry gin and added pink grapefruit and our secret, shimmery, unicorn tears.
“You know unicorns only cry when they are incredibly happy so there’s no absolutely no sadness involved in the making of this drink!”
Ms Majestical Vodka features rare mermaid scales harvested only when the mythical sea creatures shed their tails to become human.
Ms Collier said the sparkly-soft whipped cream flavoured vodka was perfect for an espresso martini or a cosmopolitan.
The third in the range – Blue Lagoon Elixir – is a mixture of elderflower, black raspberry and Summer Cup liqueur, all harvested from a ‘magical lagoon’.
The bottle range is a reflection of the bar’s playful philosophy and is just one reason why Brass Razu was voted the best bar in the region by readers as part of the Delicious Local promotion.
“I love the theatrics of a cocktail and we try and make each drink special, both in how it tastes and looks,” Ms Collier said.
“It might be adding sour strips to a drink or serving one with a sparkler or attaching a cone of caramel popcorn to the glass.”
The bar has recently released a new menu including a cocktail inspired by a Disney princess.
Rapunzel’s Frolic is created with vodka, Passoa passionfruit liqueur, pineapple, dragon fruit and lime and scattered with edible flowers.
“It’s to make up for us having to keep rescheduling our Disney night because of lockdowns,” Ms Collier said.
The annual event gives adults a chance to relive the Disney dreams of their childhood by dressing as their favourite character and sipping cocktails mixed by bartenders singing songs from the films.
“I love Disney. I don’t have kids to share that magic with but that doesn’t mean I can enjoy it as an adult,” Ms Collier said.
Brass Razu is at 13 Main Street, Mornington.
